Artist statement
My work explores the psychological and cultural dimensions of the female experience, with moments of subtle humor woven throughout. Working across jewelry fabrication and figurative ceramics, I investigate nostalgia, sentimentality, and femininity through imagery drawn from childhood memory and the natural world. These references are revisited through the lens of time and change, where a colorful, whimsical surface gives way to an undercurrent of unease, creating tension between innocence and impermanence.
As a jeweler, enamelist, and ceramicist, I use small-scale metal construction, cloisonné and champlevé enameling, and hand-built clay techniques to translate intimate narratives into tangible form. Intricacy, ornamentation, and material richness define the work, with fine metals, semi-precious stones, and vividly glazed or enameled surfaces functioning as both aesthetic and conceptual elements. Playful motifs are disrupted by reflections on aging, loss, and transformation, articulating a vision of femininity that is both celebratory and critical.
Through these narrative, handmade forms, I transform personal history into objects that balance playfulness with unease, inviting reflection on what we carry, what we outgrow, and what endures.
